Fire and reads

They're here...

The institute I keep mentioning starts tonight. I feel like the Scarecrow in the Emerald City, waiting to get his head stuffed with brains.

Also, I conducted my first author interview, and I will post it within the next few days. Jane Kirkpatrick, of whom I wrote a while back, is doing a blog tour this week. She answered my questions with grace and some good writing tips.

But this weekend Jane and her husband are dealing, at their ranch out on Starvation Lane, with a wildfire headed their way. I hope it has actually passed them by at this point. You can check her blog for updates.

In the midst of everything this afternoon I'm trying to finish Harry Potter. Probably I'll read all night, then go bleary-eyed to the first institute discussion tomorrow. So many stories, so little time...

hahaaaa...I appreciate teal's comment. So are you AT the institute? Or is it in Oregon? I'm confused....

Good luck with everything! And congrats on your author interview!

Hey, Teal! Thanks for stopping by. Quite a combo, indeed.

Leisel, I will probably muddle this more, but a week-long event called the Summer Institute takes place every August at Gutenberg College, just across town from me (where my daughter is now a senior - how the heck did that happen?). There's a different topic each year, and I've always wanted to go to it but haven't made it till this time, when the discussion topic is S. K.'s philosophy and theology. It's been great so far; gotta get going now for today's session. Thanks for asking!

Oh, and I forgot to say I finished the Deathly Hallows!! Very intense, cool, and wonderful story. Rowling rules.

My parents just drove home to OR from MN and said the fires were bad along the way. 'Tis the season, I guess, but always scary when it gets close to home for someone you know.

Okay, took me a day but after proof reading my comment I saw that I wrote "Love to post about hubby" should have been "Love your post about hubby." Sorry
