Humble sunrise

Up earlier than usual, I’ve opened wide the house to a deep morning with velvet light showing above the eastward neighbor’s roof. I need to cool the kitchen before starting an apple pie for my guys who are returning today.

Tim and our son left Monday afternoon for two nights’ camping and stargazing. I remained in these quiet rooms to write and read. Ah, life without TV has been good.

Yet I’m ready to greet my family again. Brindy’s random patterings through the hall and Westley’s requests for more food only satisfy a need for companionship for so long.

I did work though, yesterday and this morning. I took a picture to prove it.
I’ve changed my hair for the first time in a decade. My face has sure changed since my last different do. Guess I need to remember beauty can only rise from within at any age. Guess this look’ll suit me for a while.

I like the new look. I have had only the smallest taste of the adjustments to beauty at a growing age. As much as I would like to discard our surrounding culture's youth obsession, it is difficult to embrace real womanhood when sometimes I feel like the only one doing it. That said, I think you are as beautiful as ever. Have fun welcoming your men home!

Well, to quote Nichelle Nichols, "You have beautiful hair!" : ) But really.

I'd like to discard the culture's youth obsession, too, Marianne, but I'm a cultural byproduct, I guess. :oP I've been thinking this week about the humility of aging. It's got to be good for me to watch this human form wearing out. I may work on a related essay...

Hey, why don't you start a blog titled Embracing Real Womanhood? It would be great; I'm sure you can work it in. ;o)

Fresca, I can't thank you enough for a classy quote from Classy Lady. I need to read all your ST con stories again... As one famous Vulcan might say, they're interesting.

Ha, Teal, I asked the lady barber to make my hair shoulder length, and later I decided she may have cut a bit more than I'd imagined... but I can still about stuff it into a ponytail for jogging. :o)

Ah you jest! I do not need any more blogs! What is this ailment I seem to have? I think I would need a really nice camera, and then I could go around capturing photos of beauty in real women and post them leisurely. Only...I think Dove already started doing that with there real beauty campaign. I haven't seen any pictures of stretch marks there...but perhaps those are coming =)

I would love to read the essay!

Thanks, you guys. Cheekbones, hm.

Marianne, you have my permission to stick with current projects; I'm sure Dove will save the world. ;o)

Cherie, yes, HOT. The cashier at the grocery store had a personal fan blowing on him. My neck and shoulders felt good.

Wow - Deanna your hair is amazing! I love it!

I dreamt about you the other night. A crazy jumbled dream of Frank and I travelling somewhere (not Oregon I don't think??!!) and coming to your house and being shown around and meeting Tim before waking up. I may have jumbled you and Cherie a little because I think you were showing us some new renovations! Ah well - anything can happen in dream land hey!

Patti, thanks!

Cecily, I've dreamt about other bloggers, too. This new form of connecting with people will be studied one day, I'm sure - how our minds try to fill in the gaps after meeting one another in cyber space. Interesting...
