It's fine to know, but not to say, that in some inadequate and surprising ways, things will be semi-okay, the way wildflowers spring up at the rocky dirt-line where the open-space meadow meets the road, where the ground is so mean.

I really like this. There's so much said for those little flowers that pop up where by all means have no right being. Conditions are poor and yet they manage to survive. Kind of like children who are told they cannot survive in bad places because they are so fragile and yet they do, and yet come out with such success that they write about it.
